Did you know that last year, the slovak’s wines ranked 6th to Concours Mondial de Bruxelles ? Not me, until I go for a stroll in Bratislava.
I have walked along the avenue, the heart opened for the unknown, I wished to eat anything. No matter what and it was aspargus, I didn’t drink anything.
It was enough drinking a white wine with that ! At Bratislava, at Bratislava, in May or in June, at noon or at midnight
There is all the wines you want at Bratislava ! Singing mood today…I have to say that the Slovak’s white wines, so good, are easy drinks. Then, after a while, we sing !!! And it starts with Jallet Estate and his Vetlinske Zelené 2012 (the famous austrian Veltliner). It’s beautiful with its lemon-green reflections and some fresh peach and melon touch. Fruity and light, a great happyness ! It’s an easy cepage to go with, easy to drink and all the time pleasant ! Few bottles in the cellar are a good idea to avoid hassle…So why I should stop now, try the Rizling vlassky 2013, which hasn’t family relationship with the famous homonym Riesling and its origin is uncertain…Here, the acidity is more present and the green fruits and citrus fruits come in the mouth. ÇIt’s different but I like it too…All with the famoius slovak’s aspargus, risotto and calf !!! Actually, Slovakia is a cold country, so the cepage are perfectly adapted and give balanced wines, with remarkable acidity.
But what can we think about red ? If the nose of the Frankovka Modra 2012 is fruity (close to the strawberry), the palate ismore peppery, with melty tannins and come elegant ! Whereas the Saint-Laurent 2011 (locally Svatovavrinetzke ), is more closed, more astringent without special fruit…I can’t wait to taste again the white ! Take the avenu again…
Someone told me: “you should go, in a restaurant, not far from here, which opens, from evening to morning”. Then I went, I even drank, and ate again, and I wasn’t even thinking to spit out ! Indeed, the Pinot Gris 2012 from Elesko is great ! Mushroom, undergrowth and wet leaves, I walk in the forest, with a fat touch…
On the other hand, I won’t speak about the red Petit Merle-Merlot without interest and unbalanced and the Zweigeltrebe, really young but prmising. So to end on a happy note…
Yesterday on the avenue, to on the Danube, a lover, all dazed byt the white wine day. And from the castle to the Blue Church, a redcurrant wine, which seems to a liquor…And order a Tramin Cerveny.
It’s the local name of the Gewürztraminer. This one dates of 2013, from the Mojmirovce cooperative, still in the south-west of the country. So yes, I forgot !!! The Slovak vineyard is mainly located in the south-west of the country. The ap below could help you. Then, don’t expect a french type, but more from Germany. A blossoming nose and some touch of green and citrus fruits. Thirst-quenching, it’s an easy drink too…truly, the Slovakia makes me singing !
