Vatican: the most important wine consumer in the world !!!
The Wine Institute published a study about the wine consumption per person in the world in 2012. After this rankin, God was sick ! Why ? Because his son’s blood is consuming abundantly by the Vatican: 74 liters/year/person ! Medical well-being, mysticism, vampirism or alcoholism ? Explainations.
Is the faithful go out plastered of the St. Peter’s basilica ? According to the recent study of the Wine Institute of California, it’s possible ! 74 liters of wine per year and per person mean nearly 99 bottles, equivalent to almost 2 bottles per week and per resident !
Obviously, the communion wine, which consuming in the “diwine’s house”, is the main suspect. But Stampa doesn’t believe in that theory because the communion wine represents only few gurglings ! In that case, we have to consider the demography’s Vatican. Indeed, The Guardian explains that the population, around 830 residents, is mainly male, old and without children. Then, potentially more alcoholic !
But the italian daily newspaper gives another explaination, more economic, by quoting the Vatican’s supermarket “Annona”. A wide range and especially zero-rated products for the holders of the “Vatican pass” are really attractives ! So, a small population and a favourable economic system look plausible seing as before France (5th), are placed Andorra, Luxembourg and Norfolk Islands, well-known for their taxes not really heavy !
The french media Europe 1 is able to do its bit reminding that Vatican hosts many millions of tourists each year, and they don’t drink only water…and increase the Holy See’s sales of wine !
In view of this ranking, after all anecdotical, and about the crisis of french empty churches, if the Christ’s blood were the Pauillac’s taste or Chateauneuf-du-Pape’s, the religious celebrations would be more heavenly…
